Migration Fest 2018

20.11.2017

Migration Fest at the World of Trails July 16, 2018
was an international and pleasant event again with many
Finns from abroad.

We wish to thank the executive director Tina Strandberg of
the Finland Society for her speech on the work of her society.

Special thanks to Valerie Knuuttila, the representative of the
Knuttila family from Canada, for arriving to the fest and the
opening ceremonies of the Knuuttila house. We also thank
Mrs. Alice Knuttila, the official donor of the house after her
husband Walter Knuttila passed away, for the important
donation, the house and over 300 of items and artifacts that
were used in the house in New Finland during the 120 years
of the life of the building.
Finns from different parts of the world came to our fest and
brought greetings from the Finns in their countries. We also
received donations.
Jorma Särkijärvi from Toronto Canada brought greetings from
Finns in Canada. He told us about his 50 years in Canada
and donated Veli Niinimaa’s book about Accomplished Finnish
Canadians. Veli Niinimaa lives in Calgary Canada.
The Finns from Tully Queensland Australia donated very valuable
church artifacts, the communion cup and the plate. We wish to thank
Mrs. Sinikka Koskinen for bringing the items to our fest.
Ray Korte from Australia brought greetings from Finns in
Australia. He donated his biograph Reissumies Down Under.
Esa Hakala from Florida USA brought greetings from the Finns
in USA. He donated some items for the Hakala house.
We wish to thank all the other performers, too, the local quier
Sinitaivas and the other local musicians for entertaining the audience.
Thank you for coming to our fest all of you!
